In a meaningful display of service, awareness, and community spirit, the NUTECH Community Services Club (NCSC), in collaboration with the Pakistan Thalassemia Welfare Society, successfully organized a Blood Donation Drive at NUTECH University. The event stood as a testament to how collective effort, student participation, and a sense of responsibility can come together to make a real difference.
Venue: National University of Technology (NUTECH)
Held within the university campus, the event brought together students, faculty, and organisers with a shared purpose--to donate blood and raise awareness about life-threatening diseases. The campus atmosphere was filled with energy, compassion, and a commitment to serve humanity.
Awareness Seminar- Educating Hearts and Minds:
An informative seminar session was held as part of the drive, focusing on three critical health topics:
Thalassemia: A Preventable Genetic Disorder:
Students were educated about Thalassemia, a hereditary condition affecting the blood.
The session clarified its transmission patterns:
- If both parents are minor thalassemia carriers, their child is at high risk of having major thalassemia, a severe condition requiring lifelong treatment.
- If only one partner is a minor carrier, the child is typically not affected.
Blood Cancer- The Urgent Need for Donors:
The next topic covered was Blood Cancer, focusing on its three main types:
- Leukemia
- Lymphoma
- Myeloma
Benefits of Blood Donation:
The seminar concluded with a session on the benefits of regular blood donation, not just for the recipient but also for the donor. Key takeaways included:
- Improved cardiovascular health
- Controlled iron levels
- Stimulation of new blood cell production
- Psychological satisfaction from helping others
Remarkable Impact-86 Bags in Just 4 Hours:
Thanks to the active participation and enthusiastic collaboration of NUTECH students, the drive achieved an outstanding milestone: 86 blood bags were collected within just four hours. The students showed great responsibility, discipline, and commitment to the cause.
Appreciation and Acknowledgment :
To recognize the generous contributions of the student donors, Appreciation Certificates were awarded on the spot. These tokens of gratitude reflected not just participation but a powerful act of compassion that could potentially save lives.
Behind the scenes, the NCSC team remained highly active and engaged throughout the event-- from organizing logistics to coordinating donors and managing awareness activities. Their dedication and teamwork ensured that the event was smooth, impactful, and deeply meaningful.
A Step Forward in Youth-Led Service:
This Blood Donation Drive was more than a health campaign--it was a reflection of the spirit of service, unity, and awareness that NCSC and the students of NUTECH continue to uphold. Through events like this, a culture of compassion and responsibility is being nurtured in the leaders of tomorrow.
Donated Blood. Give Life. Make a Difference.
